March 4th

MUM
The students have been working on Geometry for the last few weeks.  Finding the area of a composite shape is very challenging for all students.  We have worked on this for a few days and are going to take a break and go back and review the basic of a lines, angles, triangles, polygons and quadrilaterals.  After reviewing I plan to give a test either Wednesday or Friday.  It depends how much we cover in the review before the field trip on Thursday.  Then I will go back to area and perimeter of square, rectangle and composite shape.

MUR

The students have been reading many stories and determining the text structure of the stories and citing text evidence and key words to support that type of text structure.  Last Monday, Mrs. Peterson came in an observed the class and participated in a card game that I created involving text structure.
We have worked mainly on Chronological order, cause and effect and problem and solution.  This week we will hit hard compare and contrast.  We are continuing to read A Wrinkle in Time , this is a challenging novel for the students.  This being a fantasy with time travel and  taking place in the early 60's when space exploration.
